ColorDynamics Expands Capabilities with Digital Printing

Acquisition of Jay Kay Press brings HP Indigo and Digital Expertise to ColorDynamics

Allen, Texas — 09.02.2009, 12:00 PM

In the printing industry, time is of the essence. Even as technology has made it faster than ever to E-mail files, perform digital prepress and send proofs via PDF, expectations for speedy turn times have continued to rise — and so have the numbers for digital printing. In 2007, HP announced a 40 percent year-over-year growth in the number of impressions made by its HP Indigo digital presses. And as of September 1, 2009, ColorDynamics is poised to make its own impression in digital printing. With a newly acquired HP Indigo Press and a ready supply of expertise from Jay Kay Press’s Digital Printing department, the timing couldn’t be better.

“The acquisition of Jay Kay gives us an immediate entry with credibility into the digital print market,” said ColorDynamics President, Chuck Chalifoux. “We will have not only acquired the software and equipment required, but we’re also gaining a wealth of knowledge and expertise. The acquisition of the digital business will be an excellent complement to our existing sheet-fed and web offset capabilities.”

As an industry leader in commercial printing, ColorDynamics has been serving the needs of the DFW print community, as well as national and corporate clients, for 23 years. Now, through an agreement to acquire the definitive assets of Jay Kay Press, the Company will expand its capabilities to include web-to-print and email capabilities. The digital assets of Jay Kay, a seventeen-year veteran with a reputation for quality and value in printing, will be relocated to ColorDynamics’ 200,000-square-foot facility in Allen, Texas. Additionally, many staff members of Jay Kay Press will move into new positions at ColorDynamics, where they will continue to serve existing clients with an expanded range of services.

"ColorDynamics has an excellent reputation for customer service and print quality, as well a very talented sales team," said John M. Barry, ColorDynamics Vice President and former President of Jay Kay Press. "To have a leadership role in building its Digital Imaging and Content Division is very exciting. By complementing its existing sheet fed and web printing with digital capabilities, ColorDynamics instantly gains a position as a turnkey print and marketing solutions provider nationally."

The leadership team at ColorDynamics is pleased to offer expanded services to its customers, as well as former Jay Kay customers, who will continue to receive the value and high quality service upon which they’ve come to depend. With the leading expertise of Jay Kay’s team and the experience and quality of ColorDynamics, the time is right for digital printing — and the best is yet to come.

ColorDynamics Awarded Eleventh Consecutive NAPL Award For Management Excellence

Allen, TX, March 2008 - ColorDynamics has received a Silver Award for Management Excellence in the National Association for Printing Leadership’s (NAPL) 2007 Management Plus Awards Program.  Sponsored by NAPL, American Printer magazine, Compass Capital Partners, and MAN Roland, the awards are based on a company’s management performance as compared to professional and industry standards.

Charles Chalifoux, company president, will accept the award at a special banquet on March 11th during the NAPL Top Management Conference at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande lakes in Orlando, Florida. NAPL is a not-for-profit trade association serving companies in the $100 billion graphic communications industry.

Only eleven companies were chosen for Silver Awards from the industry firms that participated in the competition, which is open to all graphic arts organizations.

ColorDynamics was cited for its superior financial record, its emphasis on employee participation in management, and its consistency in producing quality printing.  “Being selected as one of the industry’s best managed graphic arts companies is a tremendous honor” says Charles Chalifoux “and our entire staff deservedly shares in the credit.”

NAPL’s Management Plus, unlike other graphic arts competition, is not solely judged on printed pieces, but asks the company to conduct an analysis of specific areas of their operations.  In that way, the program becomes a diagnostic tool that printing company leaders can use to judge their own management performances against accepted industry standards.  The standards are financial performance, marketing/sales plan, business planning, human resources, environmental safety concerns, quality control, community/industry affairs and vendor relations.

ColorDynamics is an independent, FSC and FSI certified, full service, commercial printer meeting the needs of Dallas based and national clientele in the design, advertising and corporate communities.  We are recognized in the southwest as a leader in providing diverse services including digital prepress, UV and conventional sheetfed up to 10 colors, 8-color double roll web presses with in-line finishing on up to 100# cover weight stock.
